Salon Offers Children's Haircuts, Parties, Spa Services, Entertainment, and Much More

El Segundo, CA (January 21, 2011) – Snip-its, the magical hair salon experience exclusively for kids (www.snipits.com), is opening in El Segundo next weekend. The salon will be located in Plaza El Segundo (Sepulveda and Rosecrans) across from The Counter restaurant.

Owned by local couple (and parents), Derek and Johanna Rigaud, Snip-its South Bay will be the salon’s first location in Southern California.  It will offer children’s haircuts, spa services, birthday parties, entertainment, prizes, kid-friendly hair care products, accessories and toys, and so much more.

“As a parent, I saw the need for a unique hair care experience that caters specifically to children in the South Bay area,” said Johanna Rigaud, Owner, Snip-its South Bay.  “After discovering this magical salon, I immediately fell in love with the concept and thought it would be the perfect venue for families in this area.”

Snip-its salons support children with autism nationwide. In the new South Bay location, all of the stylists are trained to work with special needs children, and provide services outside of regular business hours.  In addition, a portion of the salon’s Grand Opening proceeds will go to Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org), the world's largest autism advocacy organization.   

Grand Opening events will be held on Saturday, January 29, from 9am – 5pm, and Sunday, January 30, from 10am - 4pm, and will feature live music, hand painter, balloons, free mini-manis, free (non-permanent) hair color, discounted hair cuts, prizes, and more.


A Cut Above the Rest

With life-size characters, music and games, Snip-its South Bay has turned what was once a tedious chore into an amazing adventure, filled with fun, games and excitement. Upon entering the salon, parents and children step into a magical cartoon world of adventure characterized by floor-to-ceiling cartoon murals and vibrant splashy colors. In the waiting area, they can enjoy the Snip-its show, featuring a whimsical cast of cartoon characters; play with toys; or browse the retail space filled with a selection of natural hair care products, specialty toys and gifts, and hair and fashion accessories. Each cutting station includes a special parent chair, and an entertainment station featuring computer games and activities for the little ones. Upon completion of the haircut, children insert a lock of hair into the “Snip-its Magic Box” for a prize.

The salon also offers a “baby’s first haircut” package, which includes a special keepsake for that first lock of hair, a first haircut certificate, and a commemorative photo and holder.


Party Time

In addition to hair care, Snip-its South Bay will offer spa services, such as mini-manicures, mini-pedicures and mini-facials using non-toxic, kid-friendly cosmetics and nail polish.  They also feature themed birthday parties and special events.

For birthday parties, children will be able to select one of four fun-filled-themes, including:

  • Glamour Party – Gladden with feathers, sequins and sparkles, the birthday child and special guests will sashay their way down the “catwalk” flaunting their party make-up, glamour hairdos and polished nails.
  • Spa Party – Pampered is the key word here. The birthday child and guests sport pink VIP robes and flip flops for an afternoon of cucumber facials, mini-manicures and/or mini-pedicures.
  • Hollywood Party – This is for the little star who loves the spotlight. After the birthday child and his/her entourage get their movie-star makeover with a party hairstyle, make-up, nails and wardrobe, they strut down the red carpet while surrounded by paparazzi.
  • Rock Star Party – Kids dreaming of becoming the next Hannah Montana or Justin Bieber will love this party theme, which includes getting the “rock-star treatment” of a funky hairstyle, make-up, nails and accessories. The little Rock Star then jams to karaoke tunes with his/her biggest fans.

All birthday parties include invitations, cake, party favors, and a special gift for the birthday child.
